What is the United Confederation of Taíno People (UCTP)?

Founded in 1998, the United Confederation of Taino People (UCTP) is a  Caribbean Indigenous Leadership Initiative and “Inter-Tribal authority” inspired by ancient Taino and other indigenous confederacies as well as contemporary initiatives such as the National Congress of American Indians (U.S.), the Grand Council of the Crees (Canada), COICA (Columbia), the International Indian Treaty Council, the Assembly of First Nations (Canada), and CONFANIE (Ecuador) etc. Membership spans throughout the Greater and Lesser Antilles as well as the United States and beyond. The Confederation is dedicated to the promotion and protection of the human rights, cultural heritage, and spiritual traditions of Taíno and other Caribbean Indigenous Peoples for the present and future generations.
